This piece celebrates one of those beautiful, silent, timeless moments when you realise just how precious it is to be a father.

I painted this piece was painted not long after my son was born.
There is something deep in the soul of man that is reflected in the eyes of their son.

Just as a mother and daughter is a very unique relationship, with its own subtle energy, its deep care, its desire for complete protection and expression of her daughter’s desires, the Father and Son relationship is unique again.

I remember looking at Oliver as he was looking out of the window. He wasn’t making a sound, or even thinking a thought, he was just watching with big, bright beautiful eyes.

My deepest urge was to take his hand and show him the world, to let him know it was his, that it’s an incredible place full of wonderful experiences. That the world is waiting for him, and I will do all that is in my power to ensure that he reaches the fullness of who he wants to be. Not what I want him to be.

Fathers want to show their sons their heirship, to create a kingdom that is a world of joy for their son to delight in.

Here you can see a father holding his sons hand, taking him to a glowing, serene future. Maybe the boy is leading the father (as is often the case!)
