The hard part over,
I'm truly alive.
I once saw a guy base-jumping in Krabi, Thailand. Base-jumping is a very select and highly dangerous sport that involves throwing yourself off a high cliff (or other object) after packing your own parachute.
You truly take your life in your own hands.
I will never forget the moment that he walked right to the edge of the limestone cliff. After having double-checked and triple checked his equipment, he stood with great trepidation. His uncertainty was palpable. I could imagine him with his eyes closed and short sharp breaths.
With a sudden animal cry he threw himself away from solidity into nothingness. Those 2 or 3 split seconds he dropped like a stone in slow motion into oblivion or success? The chute opened and snapped him upward. He sailed gracefully down to the beach.
Event though he had done this many times before, the trepidation had been same. And yet, this man had no regrets.
